Applying For Service

As a rural electric cooperative, Moon Lake Electric Association is not owned by outside shareholders. Instead, each member is more than a power consumer... they are an owner of the company!

Deposits:

  • This is for new members who do not already have services through Moon Lake Electric Association.
  • There is a $20 application fee for all residential applications.
  • A $225 deposit is required for any new residential service.
  • A deposit may also be required for returning customers, based on their previous payment history.
  • Deposits may be waived, pending the outcome of a credit check.
  • If the member insists on service changes outside of business hours, a $100 trip fee may be charged.

Please Note:

  • This is for new members who do not already have services through Moon Lake Electric Association.
  • There is a $20 application fee for all business applications.
  • A deposit is required for all business services, and will be a 60 day average, based on the billing from the past 12 months at the location.
  • If the member insists on service changes outside of business hours, a $100 trip fee may be charged.

Transferring Service:

  • This is for current members who are transferring their existing service.
  • All billing must be current before transfer of service can occur.
  • Moon Lake requires 3 days notice for any service transfers.
  • There will be a $20 transfer fee for residential transfers performed during business hours.
  • If the member insists on service changes outside of business hours, a $100 trip fee may be charged.

Disconnecting Service:
  • This is for current members who are disconnecting services.
  • 3 days notice is required for any disconnection of service.
  • Service disconnects will happen within 4 working days of requested date.
  • Members will not be liable for any services after the 4 working days, unless access to the meter is delayed by the member.
  • Disconnects will only be done during regular office hours.
  • If the member insists on service changes outside of business hours, a $100 trip fee may be charged.

We strive to maintain the best possible service, with a minimum of outage time. However, occasional power outages, either planned or uncontrolled, do occur. We keep a record of members who notify us that they are dependent on life support equipment, and it is important that this information be current and accurate.
